Standard miter bars cut from plywood or MDF work until the seasons change — wood expands and contracts, and the fit that was perfect in summer becomes sloppy in winter or impossible to push in summer. A 3D-printed miter bar in PETG moves significantly less with humidity and temperature, and this design adds single-screw precision adjustment on top of that.
NOTE: This is a digital download product – the 3d printable STL file, not a physical one. By purchasing it you get access to the actual file, which you can print yourself
This novel Adjustable Miter Bar design features a single screw wedge style adjustment action which offsets most of one of the faces spreading it from the other face and thus achieving its adjustability feature. While the two edges are distinctly different in strength (one super strong and one flexible), it’s reversible: it can be flipped and used on either side, depending on your specific configuration.
The design is also single piece and print in place, requiring zero assembly beyond fitting the adjusting screw.
It comes in two versions, Imperial and Metric, the only difference being the hole dimension for the screw.
For the Imperial version you need a Socket Head Screw size #10-24 x 1/2″
For the Metric version you need a Socket Head Screw size M5x12
Notes:
– For the part to be printed properly, you need your 3d printer to have 0.2mm tolerance (to be able to print 0.2mm gaps without fusing)
– For the part to be able to withstand shop use, it’s strongly recommended you print it using a resilient material, like PETG or better
– When using multiple units, it’s strongly recommended to always have the thick part on the same side (either left or right).
